Simple! I can offer you a range of editorial services, tailored exactly to you requirements. We discuss and agree:

• The overall brief
• The rate for for the job
• The timescale: deadline for completion but also the accepted boundary for interim communication
• The format the copy is supplied and delivered back to you

You are not invoiced until my work is submitted back to you, either in stages if agreed or upon completion if agreed.

Most proofreading is still done on paper, either directly on hard-copy supplied or printed out from disc or an email attachment; increasingly copy-editing is done directly on screen. I can accept most electronic formats for data storage e.g. USB, CD/DVD and have the facility to print large documents.

The current convention is for most editing to be done in Word. Although coding directly in HTML is possible, most clients still find Word documents the most flexible way of working at the proof/editing stage. I also have the facility for proofreading directly in PDF, although using Word's track changes enables you to see the corrections and the ability to accept or reject specific changes. If you no longer have the source material in Word, I can convert between PDF and Word for the finished format of your choice.
